SPY pre market open: +0.4% at 106.25 at 6:00 AM EST

QQQQ pre market open: +0.5% at 6:00 AM

Economic Indicators: ADP gives a look at employment this morning. The consensus is that it will show a 200K drop in jobs.

The final number for second quarter GDP is expected to show that the economy dropped 1.2%.

The Chicago Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) is expected to show modest expansion at 52. Any reading above 50 is expansion.

Crude oil inventories are announced today.

Earnings Announcements: Actuant (ATU) , announces earnings before the market opens.

After The Market Closes: Diamond Foods (DMND) sells those bags of walnuts in the baking aisle of supermarkets, Lawson Software (LWSN) sells and supports business software to, for example, manage supply chains, announce earnings after the market closes today.

Yesterday’s Surprises: Nike (NKE) closed yesterday at 60.09 per share. It announced earnings after the close, now it is trading at 63 per share.

Consumer confidence was expected to be 57, in fact, it was 53.1 The S&P 500 dropped 11 points when it was announced.

Today is quarter end so there is an upward bias due to fund manager window dressing.
